Are golden South Sea pearls naturally golden?
Yes. The gold pigment is deposited by the gold-lipped Pinctada maxima oyster as nacre forms, layer by layer. There is no treatment or dye involved in our pearls. Buyers should be cautious of "golden" pearls priced significantly below market — those are typically dyed white South Sea or freshwater.

Loose golden South Sea pearls are the working stock for custom jewelers — single pearls for solitaire pendants, matched pairs for statement earrings, small lots for limited-edition strand commissions. These pearls come from the gold-lipped variant of Pinctada maxima, harvested predominantly in the Philippines and Indonesia. Sizes in current stock run 9mm to 17mm in 1mm increments, with the 11-13mm band being most-requested. We grade on the standard AAA-AA-A scale: AAA is mirror luster, surface 95% clean, near-round to round shape; AA is high luster, surface 85% clean, near-round acceptable. Color depth ranges from pale champagne (entry-tier, AA grade common) through deep 24K yellow gold (AAA, premium). Drilled or undrilled — drilled pearls bored 0.8mm by default; we can custom-drill to 1.0mm or 1.2mm for thicker silk or beading wire.
