No — the goud color is the natural pigmentation of the goud-lipped Pinctada maxima oyster. Be wary of any "golden" parel priced significantly below market: those are typically dyed white South Sea or zoetwaterparels. Our certificates note the natural origin.
Where do golden Zuidzeeparels come from?
The Filipijnen and Indonesië are the two main sources. Filipijnse farms (especially Palawan) tend toward deeper goud and rounder shapes; Indonesische farms (Lombok, Sulawesi) produce a wider range of ondertonen and more baroque shapes. Both are Pinctada maxima, goud-lipped variant.
